Native Hawaiian Philanthropy, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), and Native Americans in Philanthropy have joined forces under a new initiative—Power in Solidarity: Hawaiʻi—to address the urgent funding inequities faced by Native Hawaiian communities and to advocate for increased philanthropic investment grounded in Indigenous knowledge and leadership.

Together, let’s reimagine the story of philanthropy in Hawaiʻi—where resources flow with purpose, and where cultural knowledge and Indigenous leadership guide our collective future.
Why This Work Matters
For every $100 awarded by U.S. foundations, barely more than a penny reaches Native Hawaiian communities.
This statistic is more than a data point—it’s a call to action. Through this partnership, we’re building lasting bridges between funders and communities by uplifting Native Hawaiian priorities in areas such as:
Environmental stewardship
Economic development
Health equity
Education
Cultural preservation
Social justice
Together, we seek to create meaningful connections that transform understanding into investment, ensuring that Native-led solutions receive the support they need to thrive.
2025: A Year of Action We invite you to join us in this transformative journey. In 2025, our partnership will activate:
📊 A new report outlining trends, gaps, and opportunities in philanthropic funding for Native Hawaiian communities
🎙️ A webinar series centering Native Hawaiian priorities, practices, and place-based assets
✈️ A funder learning tour in Hawaiʻi, providing funders with the chance to experience firsthand the knowledge, leadership, and innovation of Native Hawaiian communities
These efforts are designed to catalyze philanthropic investment, deepen relationships, and reshape the flow of resources with intention and respect for Indigenous cultural values.
Join the Movement
We stand at the intersection of Indigenous innovation and philanthropic possibility. By coming together across sectors and communities, we’re shaping a future where Native Hawaiian voices are heard, respected, and resourced.
