Native Hawaiian Rights
Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation
The Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation (NHLC) is Hawaiʻi’s only nonprofit law firm dedicated exclusively to protecting and advancing Native Hawaiian rights. For more than 50 years, NHLC has represented families, cultural practitioners, and grassroots leaders in legal battles to safeguard the integrity of the Hawaiian family, land, water, language, sacred sites, and the rights necessary to sustain traditional practices and ways of life, including farming, birthing, fishing, kilo, healing, and more.
NHLC defends not just individual claims, but the collective rights Native Hawaiians require to preserve and perpetuate Hawaiian identity and self-determination. Through legal training and mentorship, NHLC also cultivates the rising generation of Indigenous rights advocates, ensuring that Native communities will always have trusted legal champions by their side
